Laura Berger is one of my current favorite illustrators and artists. Her illustrations tell stories of joy. Through her soft forms and colour compositions her art manages to calm me down, whenever I look at it. Laura Bergers work is about spirituality, inner peace, nature, femininity. I selected three of her artworks and she gave us brief backround stories about them. Click the gallery to read what she has to say about the following illustrations.
„This summer I found myself becoming increasingly troubled by the violence and hatred happening in the world, and I started a body of work called „softer world“, which is also the title of this piece. The paintings in this series were focused on envisioning a different kind of existence. It’s about imagining a place where everyone feels relaxed, comforted, safe, supported, free. Soft. In this current political environment, I am suddenly feeling very called to turn to my work as a means of peaceful activism.“ – Laura Berger
„For this piece I wanted to create a clean visual for tides or waves using human forms, also calling to mind the ebb and flow of our relationships and our lives — the impermanence and fluidity of it all.“ – Laura Berger
„I’m interested in our connectedness, as people and as women. How we can come together to create something positive and inclusive and warm. How we can honor our bodies.“ – Laura Berger
