Time to honour the best illustration artist of the year: Maria José Carlier.
Geometry, landscape, moving bodies, pastel colours, thin lines, minimalism. These are the characteristics of Maria José Carliers work.
And the best about it is: She prints her motivs on Shirts! Best thing i’ve seen in an ocean of the same looking shirts this year. Check out her website here.
„When I made this piece, I had gone to the cemetery a few days before to see my grandmother and I found a mausoleum that looked like a temple, and the sun came up and I photographed it. Days later I drew it and this was how „opening portals“ was made.“
„When I did this, I wanted to draw a car for my son, but i looked at references and finally finished doing it for me, with a single eighty, fragmented with crossing stripes.“
„The last image I did it in a week when there was a wave heat and I wanted to portray women from the 80s on the beach, with a lot of RAY filter and high shot swimwear. And I named it New Moon because it was a new moon day.“
